Occupational Health Assessment
ECS Safety Services offers various occupational health services. These services are designed to meet the demands of each company’s health assessment. An Occupational Health Assessment is an evaluation of an individual using information obtained through a verbal and physical examination process. The purpose of performing these assessments is to evaluate a potential employee’s capabilities in relation to the position applied for. This evaluation also identifies individuals at risk in the workplace.
Components of the Occupational Health Assessment are:

- Musculoskeletal Assessment
Additional components to the Occupational Health Assessment are:
- Flexibility Evaluation

- Back Fitness Evaluation
- A more extensive back evaluation that tests a client’s strength, balance, flexibility, and cardiovascular system by performing a series of exercises including push-ups, abdominal crunches, back extensions, and squats.
- Strength Evaluation
- Is to determine a client’s muscle strength and ability to perform the physical demands of their positions by using precision instruments (dynamometer) to measure hand grip, back, arm and shoulder strength.
- Lifting Evaluation
- Proper lifting technique and instructions given to the client while performing multiple lifts using the weight they will be lifting at work.
- Cardiovascular Evaluation
- An endurance test using an aerobic stepper to ensure that the client can safely perform the physical demands of the position they are applying for.
- Physical Demand Analysis/Job Demand Analysis
- Trained staff go to a worksite to evaluate specific positions. PDA/JDA’s are required to set cut-off levels for the strength and lifting evaluations. They also give the examiner the necessary information regarding the position the client is applying for to make an accurate decision regarding their fitness to work.
