Drug Testing Policy Development
It is becoming more common for companies to initiate a substance abuse policy and a testing protocol for their organizations to meet safety concerns, contractual obligations and to address internal and public complaints.
A substance abuse policy has to address when, where, why, who and how an employee can be tested and what they are being tested for. The employees have to be aware of the consequences of failing or refusing to test. As an employer you have to be aware of any legal or human rights challenges that can affect your testing programs. All of these issues can be overwhelming and confusing even to the most experienced managers.
ECS Safety Services has vast experience with creating or modifying substance abuse polices to fit the needs of employees and employers. Our policies are developed by Ed Secondiak. Ed’s knowledge of testing standards, human rights challenges and experience with the legal system through drug enforcement provide for a unique perspective on policy development.
We have developed policies for major oil producers, service companies, mining industry, forestry and government agencies. We have also prepared and assisted in the development of policies for one of the northern diamond mines and three of the Fort McMurray Oil Sands Projects. Many of our clients are unionized and we have met the challenge and provided policies that accomplished the goal of increasing and/or enhancing safety and addressing employer and employee concerns.
